Volunteer Stories

The Rescue of Cleo & Titan

We received a call about a mother dog being trapped in the wash. When one of our volunteers went to investigate, she discovered a Sharpei mother who had dug out a small cave in the bottom of the wash in order to have her litter of puppies. Due to lack of food unfortunately only one puppy was still alive. It took a "come-a-long" to pull the mother dog out of her cave and several volunteers to carry both dogs up out of the wash. Both dogs received medical treatment. The mother needed antibiotics for a severe infection and eye surgery. The puppy just needed food and love. The volunteers decided to name the mother Cleo because of the trouble it was to carry her out of the wash. The puppy was named Titan. Luckily both dogs got adopted together. Below are a picture of Cleo and Titan in their cave in the wash, a picture of their adoption and a recent picture of both dogs. Titan is almost as big as his mother now!
