How To Report Abuse/Neglect
Besides
prohibiting cruelty to animals the Nevada State Law requires
that one's animals receive adequate food, fresh water and
shelter from the elements. All too many times animals are
adopted with "good intentions" that for a variety
of reasons fall by the wayside along with the humane care
of the pet. If you witness a case of animal abuse/neglect
you should report it to the Animal Control office in your
jurisdiction. Before you call make sure you have the exact
address of the abuse case, the party's name if possible and
any facts pertinent to the case. If it is possible to take
pictures of the abuse/neglect; do so. If you are reporting
an unhealthily situation such as feces littering the yard
or house; you should also call the Clark County Health District.

The Las Vegas Valley Humane Society rescues many animals
from abusive and neglectful situations. We are one of the
few organizations who will intercede in abuse and neglect
cases. Sometimes all we need to do is ask the animal's owner
if we can intercede and find another home for the animal.
Other times more legal action is necessary in order to obtain
a transfer of ownership of the animal. If you see animal
abuse; report it to the Animal Control office in your jurisdiction
and then call the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society at: (702)
434-2009 or contact us through
email. Unfortunately we sometimes lack enough volunteers
to handle every call we receive.
